One of the most profound and powerful pieces of Canadian music. Krisztina owns this work at the moment, but I expect other singers will carry the torch for many years to come. RIP R. Murray Schafer - you are still loved, admired, and revered…
Maureen Forrester would have enjoyed this interpretation.
Junk.
A superb piece but this version is laboured.
💚Ahhhhh What a fantastic surprise! Gotta come and listen to Nautilus ever so often and here is an ORCHESTRA VERSION going full on king of the monsters💚
Oh, MY. GOD. I love Anne Meredith... the discordance, tension and emotion... one day I want to see a live event playing this. It is electrifying. Wonderful performance.
Love this version!
Every music is also an expression of its time. Therefore nowaday's music is often painful to ears and nerves. This seems not to be the case with the music of Unsuk Chin, that I am hearing here for the first time. These sounds are smoother and quite bearable.
I'd love to see this as a multimedia ballet.
phenomenal composition
One of the best concerts I’ve been!
Pretty, fun, and pretty fun! 🤘
Sounds EXCELLENT ❤ indeed EPIC 👍
the masks are hilarious. I robot show NO emotion!

I personally mean "very good".

hi
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
This remind me of Stravinsky!
More like Ligeti or Blomhahl.
It's an amazing piece - well worth searching for.
We think so too! You can listen to an excerpt from our performance at this link, if interested. :) soundcloud.com/espritorchestra/sofia-gubaidulina-fachwerk-2009-excerpt?
Bizarre Have energico e espressivo e Cantabile moments I love Madam Unsuk Chin works She is a genius (I hope she will make some simple songs with my poems, Ahmad Shiddiqi, poemhunter) Welcome to Indonesia
I like it so much
Amazing performance!
Thank you for incredible performance yesterday at Koerner hall!
Fascinating!
webernistic

finding new musical moods and styles and linking them to old traditions ( classical ) is a very delicate creative matter, it is also a trend oriented for specific reasons such as for example film scenes . That's a valuable musical work very well performed 👍
a toothpaste is the object for which we can sing opera in a movie scene, it is very beautiful. I like such creativity 😍
rip schafer what a life well lived
Thank you very much 🙏🏻
Thank you for this splendid conversation and bringing Toothpaste back to life. Thank you Alex, for bringing us Larry's work and allowing us to hear the untold tales of its inception via Dan and Alexina. Can't wait for next week's episode.
Weird cool.
Such a lovely exchange of ideas. It helps to demonstrate how a creative mindset works, in very elegant and vivid terms. Thank you Esprit, Eugene and Julia.
Thank you very much for watching, David!
Where can we find a recording, please!
Beautiful sounds. Music is at its best when boundaries and stereotypes are torn asunder and new blood is allowed in to the old forms. In the immortal words of guitarist, composer, arranger, and teacher Fred Torak: "The more there is, the more there is."
hey i share a name with this guy
love this for so many reasons: the music, the tone, the sensitivity, the content. Thank you Esprit for bringing us Alex and Larry in this rich multi-layered conversation
Awesome cool awesome....
Unfortunately, I could not get to this concert. I would have liked to have heard this work "live". It's very atmospheric and there's always something special about an audience being drawn in, particularly with new compositions where no-one knows what's coming next. I hope both composer and orchestra emerge from these current difficult times with renewed optimism and vigour.
still love it!!
